The earliest evidence of the use of condoms dates back to 11,000 BC. Throughout the centuries condoms have been fashioned out of linen, animal bladders, leather, tortoise shells, oiled silk paper, and animal horns (ouch!). The first rubber condoms were developed in 1855 and had the thickness of a bicycle inner tube.
